Mobile Phone service to be suspended for Chehlum Security: Report

KARACHI: Karachi police chief, Additional Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon, on Saturday outlined the security measures taken for the chehlum of Imam Husain tomorrow (Sunday).

Security measures includes a heavy deployment of police, suspension of mobile phone services and a ban on pillion riding.

The AIG said that as many as 5,313 policemen would perform security duty during the chehlum. Under the security plan finalised, 18 SPs (superintendents of police) and 43 DSPs (deputy superintendents of police) would be deployed at different points for security.

Walkthrough gates have also been installed at six entry points of the main chehlum procession which will be monitored throughout via CCTV cameras.
