India: Odisha incurred Rs 2765 crore loss due to cyclone Titli

NEW DELHI: In India, the Odisha government has said that cyclone Titli and subsequent floods caused a loss of nearly Rs 2,765 crore and affected more than 60 lakh people.
Ahead of submitting a memorandum to the Centre to seek interim assistance for cyclone and floods, Special Relief Commissioner B P Sethi said the twin calamity caused this loss.
Officials said apart from severe damage to infrastructure, the cyclone and floods have taken 57 lives.
Mr Sethi said the cyclone and subsequent flood have damaged crop in 2.6 lakh hectare of land.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan visited Gajapati district today to gauge the impact of the cyclone and subsequent floods.
