KPK government increases professional allowance of doctors

PESHAWAR: (APP) The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has increased the existing Health Professional Allowance (HPA) of the Employees Social Security Institute (ESSI) doctors by Rs. 10,000 per doctor monthly.

The allowance has been extended for the first time to paramedics and nursing staff of the institution with the amount of Rs.5000 monthly.

The decision to this effect was taken in the 71th meeting of Governing Body of Employees Social Security Institution (ESSI) held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour and chairperson of the GB, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli.

In the meeting creation of the posts of Gynecologist and other supporting staff in Social Security Medicare Centre Hattar, Haripur, provision of miss allowance to the nursing staff of the institutions hospitals and special allowance to the special employees were also approved.           While with the up-gradation of paramedics, the governing body as per the other provincial departments approved the up gradation of computer operator posts of institution.

Furthermore, the Governing Body while giving directions for approval of some necessary amendments in the diseased quota rules, increased the amount of welfare fund for the welfare of ESSI employees up to Rs.0.5 million yearly instead of 1 lack, however the grant could be taken in shape of death and marriage grant only while a proper procedure of benevolent fund would be adopted, the GB directed.

Secretary, Labour Department and Commissioner of the GB, Syed Alamgir Shah, DG ESSI, Anwar Khan, DG Health Services Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Pervez Kamal, representatives of Finance and other relevant departments and members of governing body attended the meeting.

At this occasion some necessary agenda items were approved by the GB unanimously.

During the meeting, GB confirmed the decisions of its 70th meeting and discussed in details the actions taken on.

Addressing the meeting, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli said that the major aim for equipping ESSI with all resources was to make this institution a public delivery public sector organization.

She expressed the hope that the provision of health facilities to the labour workers would increase their professional public services.
