CPEC security: Pakistan to launch satellite for the security of CPEC project

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission  (SUPARCO) is preparing to launch a satellite with collaboration of China to monitor the security of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor  (CPEC) project.

The satellite is likely to be launched in 2018 with the help of China.

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) will provide comprehensive satellite service to monitor the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and address its security concerns.

This was said by a Suparco delegation during a meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain at the presidency here on Tuesday.

According to a spokesman for the president, Suparco chairman Maj Gen Qaiser Anees Khurram briefed Mr Hussain on the commission’s ongoing satellite development projects and its role and contribution in completion of CPEC projects.

Satellite monitoring of the CPEC would boost the security of the multi billion dollar project and at the same time would be a giant leap for Pakistan in terms of space technology.
