Five Mineral water brands declared unsafe for drinking by PCRWR

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has declared five mineral water brands unsafe for drinking.

PCRWR shared its monitoring report from July to September 2019 in which it collected brand samples from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Multan, Lahore, Peshawar, Bahawalpur, Tando Jam and. ------------------------------

During lab testing of over a hundred samples, the council, which falls under the Ministry of Science and Technology, found that five bottled water brands that do not meet the standards set by Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA).

These brands were declared unsafe for consumption:

- TAJ Pure Water - Livon - Sunlay - MM Pure Drinking Water - Jami Water

The report revealed that these brands failed the standard test due to the presence of high levels of Sodium. The amount of Sodium present in these brands ranged from 60-187 ppm against the maximum limit of 50 ppm.

Moreover, TAJ Pure Water also had a higher level of Potassium and MM Pure Drinking Water sample had exceeded the limit for TDS and Chloride.
