SC seeks report on water filtration plants

LAHORE:The Supreme Court (SC), while hearing a case regarding discharge of polluted water into Ravi, sought a report from the Punjab government on progress made on installation of water filtration plants.
A two-member SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, heard the case pertaining to River Ravi water
pollution at the Supreme Court Lahore Registry.
Punjab Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed appeared before the court.
During the hearing, the CJ said that whole city's polluted water was being discharged into River Ravi, adding that no work on water filtration plants had been carried out.
The water filtration work needed to be done on an emergency basis, he added.
The CJP ordered for submitting a report within one week on the work being done for filtration of water.
