ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP): March towards Martyrs Graveyard in Srinagar on Saturday
A march towards the Martyrs' Graveyard at Eidgah in Held Srinagar will be held on May 21 to mark the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent liberation leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and the martyrs of Hawal.
A call for the march has been given by the Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.He has also appealed to the people to observe complete shutdown on Saturday, Kashmir media service reported.
It was on May 21, 1990, when unidentified gunmen shot at Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq in Held Srinagar and martyred him on the spot.
On the same day, 70 mourners were killed when Indian troops fired at the funeral procession of the martyred leader in Hawal area of Held Srinagar.
Twelve years later, on the same day in 2002, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone was martyred by unknown attackers, when he was returning from addressing a gathering at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Held Srinagar.
