United Nations: A Kashmiri delegation met the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein in Geneva and thanked him for his historic role in the release of the first-ever UN report on Kashmir.
The report has reaffirmed the international status of Kashmir as a disputed territory and censured India for serious human rights violations in the valley.
Those who informally met Al-Hussein included Convener APHC-Pakistan Syed Faiz Naqshbandi along with Executive Director of Kashmir Institute of International Relations Sardar Amjad Yousaf Khan and top freedom leaders Hassan Bana and Advocate Pervez Shah.
The Kashmir Delegation also thanked Al-Hussein, who is from Jordan, for his statement in the Council earlier today where he eulogized Shujaat Bukhari, the top Kashmiri journalist who was assassinated in a suburb of Srinagar known for high Indian military presence.
Bukhari was assassinated within hours of the release of the historic UN report.
The Kashmir Delegation is participating in the 38th session of Human Rights Council. The Delegation is led by Altaf Hussain Wani.
