WASHINGTON: Five US states have refused to deploy National Guard troops to the US-Mexico border amid a growing criticism over a controversial immigration policy of President Donald Trump's administration.
The Governors of Colorado, New York, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts states, in their separate messages strongly criticised the Trump administration over its decision to tear apart families at the US-Mexico border, terming it a moral failing and a human tragedy.
Meanwhile, the New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has said that the state would sue the Trump administration for this inhuman act.
