"Bleeding Kashmir, Call for attention" APHC held

ISLAMABAD (APP): Speakers at the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) held on Tuesday expressed the need to highlight Indian atrocities in the occupied Kashmir at international level and for taking steps to resolve the long-standing issue.

The conference titled `Bleeding Kashmir; Call for Attention' was arranged by Kashmir Youth Forum and other stakeholder in connection with Accession to Pakistan Day.

The speakers in a unanimous resolution condemned the killings of innocent Kashmiri people in occupied Kashmir by Indian forces and urged the government to call a joint session of the Parliament to covey a strong message to the international community that "Pakistan stands with Kashmiris in their just cause".

They also called for arranging separate conferences to highlight Kashmir issue at national and international level.

The conference of International Union of Journalists should also be called to adopt strategy against attacks on journalists in occupied Kashmir, they demanded.

The resolution demanded release of political prisoners, lifting ban on the visit of political delegations.

Leader of the House in Senate, Raja Zafarul Haq said the international community, Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), United Nations and Human Rights Council will not come forward to resolve Kashmir issue unless Pakistan makes the Kashmir issue an important part of its national agenda.

He said "We can only plead the case of innocent Kashmiri people at the international level sincerely when we consider those killed people as our own brothers, sisters and children".

He said the government has to change its policies regarding India on trade and other matters to make the Indian government realize that we cannot compromise on the killing of innocent Kashmiris.

Kashmir Committee's head, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said the rightful independence movement of Kashmiri people is named as terrorism by Indian authorities.

He said Kashmir issue has been an integral part of Pakistan's foreign policy during all the democratic government's tenure.

He said Pakistan should not hesitate in explaining its justified and factual opinion regarding resolution of Kashmir issue and must adopt aggressive approach instead of defensive.

Fazl-ur-Rehman said the Kashmir committee has been reactivated and will meet on Wednesday to make a further strategy regarding the recommendations of today's conference.

He said "there is no ambiguity in our opinion regarding Kashmir issue and we have to initiate debate over our weaknesses which create hurdles in pursuing the efforts to resolve this issue diligently".

Member National Assembly, Ijaz-ul-Haq said "if Pakistan would adopt active approach for finding amicable solution of Kashmir, then other countries will automatically pay attention to this cause".

He said there is no example of the state terrorism being committed in occupied Kashmir at international level and this issue should be highlighted at all the forums including European Union and American Congress.

Senator Sherry Rehman, Former Ambassador Masood Khan, Representative, Jamat- i-Islami, Sameeha Raheel, Renowned Journalist, Hamid Mir, leaders of APHC and others spoke on the occasion.
