Islamabad: Opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif writes letter to PM Imran Khan, recommends three new names for CEC slot .Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan recommending three names for the post of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), GNN reported.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president, in a letter to the premier, recommended the names of Nasir Mehmood Khosa, Akhlaaq Ahmed Tarar and Irfan Qadir for the post of CEC.

Shehbaz Sharif said, "In my opinion, these prominent personalities are fit and deserving of this position".

On the other hand, before the meeting of the Chief Election Commissioner's appointment, Raja Pervez Ashraf met Khawaja Asif and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the opposition chamber wherein he consulted with PML-N's leadership on Irfan Qadir's name.

Reportedly, Shahbaz Sharif proposed the name of Irfan Qadir in the letter to the Prime Minister on Raja Pervez Ashraf's suggestion.

The text of the letter stated that it was unfortunate that the process which started from November 25 has not reached any consensus yet. Resending the list of potential candidates following the current scanerio.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president, in a letter to the premier, recommended the names of Nasir Mahmood Khosa, Jalil Abbas Jillani and Akhlaaq Ahmed Tarar for the post of CEC.

Shahbaz Sharif also urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to take immediate action regarding the matter.
