61st death anniversary of prominent Urdu writer Saadat Hassan Manto observed

ISLAMABAD: Renowned Urdu writer Saadat Hassan Manto 61st death anniversary was being observed. He was a prominent play and short story writer.

 

He was born on May 11, 1912 in British India. He came to Pakistan after partition in 1947.  Manto was the creator of 28 legendary collections. He described the evils of society in his stories.

 

Manto also had to face criticism in society but he was considered the greatest writer of Urdu literature after his death.

 

Some of his publications are, Atishpare, Manto Ke Afsane, Dhuan, Afsane Aur Drame, Laazat-e-Sang, Thanda Gosht, Baghair Ijazt, Burque, Ratti, Masha, Tolah.

 

He died on January 18, 1955 at the age of 42.
