ANF recovers 5 ton drugs worth Rs. 13 billion

RAWALPINDI: (APP) Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered five ton drugs worth Rs 13.53 billion in international market in 18 operations across the country.
According to an ANF press release issued here on Tuesday, the operations were conducted in Quetta, Qilla Abdullah, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Haripur, Karachi, Hyderabad and Khairpur.
The seized drugs comprised of 3.8 ton opium, 1.177 ton heroin, 24.35 kg hashish, 5.65 kg amphetamine and nine gram cocaine.
During operations 16 persons including two foreigners and a lady smuggler were rounded up while four vehicles being used by the drug smugglers were also impounded.
Cases had been registered at the respective ANF police stations while further investigations were underway.
