Govt to set up task force to bring ‘laundered’ money back to Pakistan: PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced that the government will make a high-power task force to bring ‘laundered money’ back to Pakistan.

“Our debt has reached at Rs28, 000 billion today,” Imran Khan said in his first address to the nation as prime minister. “We have to take loans to pay off the interests on our foreign debt.”

“We have to stand on our own feet,” he said. “Taking loans means losing your freedom and respect. ”

Prime Minister Khan said that our ruling elite is living a luxurious life. “Prime Minister of Pakistan has 524 employees and he uses 80 vehicles.”

“I will only keep two vehicles and auction others,” he announced, adding that the money will be deposited to national exchequer. “I am not living in the Prime Minister but in the military secretary’s 3-bedroom house.”

“No governor will live in governor house,” he said.

Prime Minister Khan urged the nation to pay the taxes. “We are the nation of over 200 million but only 0.8 million citizens pay taxes,” he added. “I will protect your money and it is your responsibility as a citizen to help me protect your money.”

The prime minister promised that he will fix the FBR and root out corruption from the institution.

“No country can progress without eliminating corruption,” PM Khan said, adding that he will meet the NAB chairman and help him make his institution stronger.

“I will myself look after the Interior Ministry because I want to monitor the money-laundering,” he said.

“The corrupt people will make hue and cry when we will catch them. Make sure you support me in the fight against corruption.”

PM House to be made university

The Prime Minister House will be converted into a top world-class university, PM Khan announced. “We will also form a task form under Dr Ishrat Hussain to make suggestions to scale down spending on government affairs.”

Education

PM Imran Khan said that his government will fix the education system and the government run schools. “We will request the private schools to fix the government schools.”

“Over 2.4 million children are studying in the religious seminaries.” We will make sure that they get good education and become engineers and doctors.”

Health

He said the government will distribute health cards and introduce health insurance in the country.

Policing

Former IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Durrai has been given an advisory role to fix Punjab police, PM Khan said. “Law and order is a provincial subject but we will help the provincial governments to improve their policing.”

The prime minister said that strict action will be taken in the cases of child abuse.

Judicial system

“I will talk to the Chief Justice and request him to introduce reforms in the judicial system,” he said. “No case should take more than one year.”

Local bodies system

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that his government will will introduce reforms in the local bodies system and will empower the elected Nazims. “Nowhere in the world the MNAs and MPAs get funds to spend on public projects.”

Diamer Bhasha Dam

“We will built Diamer Bhasha dam at any cost,” PM Khan said, praising chief justice Saqib Nisar for his dam initiative.

Jobs for youth

He said that the government will create jobs for the youth. “We will give them skills and provide youngsters with interest-free loans to start businesses.”
