Orange Line Work to continue : Rana Sana Ullah

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Friday said work on different sections of Orange Line Train project would continue except the areas mentioned in the decision of Lahore High Court.

"This is not a decision to stop the project as a whole. But, certain areas have been mentioned and our experts are looking into the matter," he said talking to a private news channel.

The minister said the Orange Line Train is a gift for the people of Lahore and the Punjab Government will complete it keeping within the legal obligations.

He said the court had found its bidding process and legal and financial aspects as transparent. However, some areas of historic importance have been mentioned in the decision in respect to the distance of line from these buildings.

This segment of the decision provides that opinion be sought from a foreign expert about the distance of the Orange Line Train from historic sites, he added. "Therefore, we have two options with one to seek an expert opinion or challenge the decision in Supreme Court."

He said no historic building was affecting from its route directly and none of these buildings was demolished. "However, there is a controversy about the distance of these buildings from the Train line and we have already ensured that no such building is damaged rather they are better protected."

He said even if we see in the light of this decision, 26 kilometer Line is not affecting from it where the work continues and for the remaining, we are looking into the matter.
