Samjhota Express main accused Col. Prasad Purhoit declared innocent by NIA

NEW DELHI: Samjhota Express main accused Lt Col Parasad Purohit declared innocent by National Investigation Agency (NIA).
NIA Director General Sharad Kumar said “There is no proof against him in Samjhota blast case. He was never an accused I wonder why his name is being linked to Samjhota blast case.”
Lt Col Purohit was the main accused in Samjhot Express and Malegaon blast case that happened 7 years ago.
At least 68 people lost their lives in Samjhota Express blast.
Purohit claimed that he is innocent and remained behind the bars for seven years without any cause.
Purohit said “I have been robbed of honour, diginity and rank and punished for serving the nation.”
He also requested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to restore his honour.
In 2015, opposing the bail application of Purohit, NIA claimed that it had sufficient evidence to prove Purohit guilty in the blast case.
