Former PCB Chief Rameez Raja criticized the team management and skipper Babar Azam for the decision to include Fakhar Zaman in the Super 4 match against Sri Lanka, a match that ultimately led Pakistan to exit the 2023 Asia Cup due to their loss. Expressing his concerns, Rameez Raja pointed out that Fakhar Zaman's recent form was inconsistent, and his body language on the field was concerning.
Rameez Raja stated on his YouTube channel, "Fakhar Zaman seems to be struggling lately. His body language is bewildering. In my opinion, Fakhar should have declined to play himself. He has taken a cheap trick, leaving one or two innings behind." He also suggested that Fakhar Zaman should consider stepping down.
Rameez Raja also expressed disappointment over the absence of two key players in this crucial match against Sri Lanka: Imam-ul-Haq, who was out due to a back injury, and Saud Shakeel, who couldn't recover from a fever and had to miss the match
