New information received over missing US military F - 35 fighter jet

The US military announced the discovery of debris from a crashed F-35 fighter jet in South Carolina on Monday, just one day after appealing to the public for assistance in locating the elusive wreckage.

The pilot of the F-35B Lightning II jet had ejected safely from the aircraft on Sunday afternoon.On Sunday, Joint Base Charleston had used the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to request that individuals "contact the Base Defense Operations Center" if they had any information that could aid recovery teams.A mere day later, those search teams successfully located the wreckage.

In a statement, the base reported, "Personnel from Joint Base Charleston and @MCASBeaufortSC, in close collaboration with local authorities, have discovered a debris field in Williamsburg County.

The debris was located two hours northeast of JB Charleston." They also expressed gratitude to local, county, and state officials for their assistance.
