These innovations, the "watch page" and the "Shorts Innovation Program," are designed to bolster the availability of trustworthy news content on the platform.
The "watch page" feature serves as a hub for curated news content, drawing from what YouTube identifies as "authoritative sources." This central location offers viewers recommendations for related videos, facilitating a seamless news consumption experience.
In parallel, the "Shorts Innovation Program" condenses news updates, enabling users to swiftly stay informed about the latest developments.
YouTube has emphasized its commitment to providing high-quality, trustworthy information, particularly during pivotal moments such as elections, times of unrest, and natural disasters. The platform's dedication to this objective is demonstrated through partnerships with over 20 organizations across 10 countries.
To further strengthen the integrity of news content, YouTube is investing $1.6 million into the "Shorts Innovation Program," specifically to support innovative news publishers interested in harnessing the potential of short-form news formats.
