Pakistan Auto Industry hit with yet another crisis

Pakistan's three major auto manufacturers are facing a temporary shutdown of their production plants. This interruption is primarily attributed to an ongoing shortage of essential raw materials. The affected companies include Honda Atlas Cars, Toyota Indus, and Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC).

To address this critical issue, PSMC has taken the decision to suspend its automobile plant's operations from October 25, 2023, to October 27, 2023. Importantly, it's worth noting that their motorcycle plant will remain operational during this period, as stated in an official announcement by the company's secretary.

Similarly, Honda Atlas Cars has also found itself compelled to halt production due to the current level of inventory and parts shortages within their supply chain. Consequently, they will be closing their plant from October 24, 2023, to October 31, 2023, according to their official statement released through their company secretary.

Furthermore, this situation is not unique to PSMC and Honda Atlas Cars. Earlier, Indus Motor Company Limited had faced similar supply chain disruptions and opted for a complete plant shutdown from August 25 to September 06, 2023.

These consecutive closures reflect the challenges these major auto manufacturers in Pakistan are encountering due to the scarcity of crucial raw materials.
