First ever Thar Coal Power Project becomes operational on one of the largest coal reserves of the World

*KARACHI: The first 330-megawatt power plant based on Thar coal was connected to the national grid after it started generating power from the world’s seventh largest coal reserves.*
This was announced by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on his official Twitter account.

Work on coal mining in Thar block II, and power plant near the site of coal mining started in 2016 and was earlier scheduled to be completed by June 2019, but due to fast pace of the work, the project is said to have completed well ahead of the allotted time.
