Russia Election: Vladimir Putin re-elected as president

MOSCOW:In Russia, Vladimir Putin has been re-elected as president for another six years with a thumping majority.

With over seventy percent of the votes counted, the Central Election Commission, announced that Vladimir Putin has won 75.9 percent of the vote.

The Communist Party candidate Pavel Grudinin is his nearest competitor with 13.2 percent vote.

Later addressing a crowd near Red Square in Moscow, Putin said he considers the victory as a vote of confidence in what he has achieved in tough conditions. APP/AFP
