Blast in central Istanbul kills four and injures dozen






ISTANBUL: At least four people killed and 36 wounded in a suicide blast in a shopping street in central Istanbul.

 

Turkish authorities claimed that the bomber was a member of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

 

Officials claimed that the attacker want to detonate the bomb at a crowded area but could not succeed.

 

Authorities and Rescue teams arrived at the incident side and cordoned the area for first aid and investigation purposes.

 

Turkish Health Minister Muezzinoglu said “We as a nation are unfortunately now facing with a situation of unlimited, immeasurable acts that are inhumane, defy human values and are treacherous.”

 

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault condemned the attack which caused the death of several people.

 

Turkey is targeted in a series of terror attacks in recent days.

 

A suicide car bombing killed 37 people earlier this month while 29 people were killed in a similar bombing attack in Ankara last month.

 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the attacks and blamed PKK responsible for the attacks.
