Visitors allowed to meet with Nawaz, Maryam today in jail

RAWALPINDI: The visitors were allowed to meet with convict former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, her daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Cap (r) Safdar today (on Thursday) in Adiala jail.

As per details garnered, the strict security arrangements held during the meeting day of Sharif family in Adiala jail. The Pakistan Muslim league-N leaders likely to meet with Nawaz Sharif, Maryam and Safdar from 8:am to 4:00pm.

Nawaz Sharif has worn a ‘Shalwar Kameez’ and waistcoat for meeting with the visitors. The meeting will be held in the room of the prison superintendent. The visitors should have CNIC for meeting with Sharif family and none could not be allowed without CNIC.

According to the sources, every visitor was given 20 minutes for meeting with the member of Sharif family in the jail.

The permission of the former prime minister will be taken before the meeting and the people who will come to meet with Nawaz Sharif must follow the rules and regulations of the prison schedule.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has recommended forming larger bench over the petition filed against the convictions of Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.

The Sindh governor, Raja Zafarul Haq including the PML-N leaders met with the former prime minister in Adiala prison. The jail managements allocated Gate 3, and Gate 5 for the visitors. The former ministers and the PML-N ticket holder candidates will use Gate 5 and the PML-N leaders will enter through the Gate no 3.

Earlier on July 13, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were arrested and shifted to jail after they landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Nawaz was sentenced to 11 years in prison by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) court over his family’s purchase of luxury apartments in London, whereas, his daughter Maryam was sentenced to seven years in prison. The ex-premier’s son-in-law was also sent to jail for one-year on the same charge.
