Parliament is the Supreme institution of the country: CJP

ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has said that they respect the parliament and consider it a supreme institution.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by CJP Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the Katas Raj temple case.

In today’s proceedings, the local administration presented report in the top court regarding filling of Katas Raj temple pond to eight feet to which Justice Mian Saqib Nisar remarked that the pond should be filled.

He remarked that the issues of Sikh and Christian community will also be resolved.

The CJP observed that they respect the parliament and consider it a supreme institution.

The apex court also expressed anger over the absence of Evacuee Trust Board chairman Siddiqueul Farooq.

Justice Saqib Nisar asked why didn’t the Evacuee Trust Board chairman appeared before the court despite repeatedly asking him to appear before the court.

Should the court take over the management of the Evacuee Trust Board, he added.

The CJP while summoning the property and income details the Evacuee Trust Board observed that the cement factories have been affecting the underground water level.

The court also issued notice to cement factory owners and adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
