Naqeebullah killing: first meeting of investigation committee to be held today

KARACHI: The first meeting of the investigation committee formed to probe extra-judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in an alleged police encounter in Malir last week.

The law-enforcement agencies could not find any criminal record of Naqeebullah who hailed from South Waziristan.

The Station House Officer (SHO) Shah Lateef Town has been suspended.

On the other hand, the funeral prayer of deceased Naqeebullah Mehsud was offered in Tank and will be laid to rest in South Waziristan.

Earlier, the killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in the alleged police encounter in Malir has raised several questions. The issue was raised in the social media after 92 News aired the news whether the encounter was real or fake.

Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal had ordered the DIG South to probe into the matter.

Meanwhile, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has taken notice of the incident.

In a statement on the social media, PTI chairman Imran Khan said that the situation of the Sindh police is also very bad. “Rao Anwaar murdered Naqeeb Mehsud,” he said.

On the other hand, SSP Rao Anwaar said that the killed accused belonged to the TTP. “He was involved in an attack on the army convoy in 2009 and said to be a close aide of Maulvi Ishaq involved in the attack on the airport,” he added.
