Assad says peace talks in Astana will focus on ceasefire

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said peace talks in the Kazakh capital next week on Monday will focus on ceasefire.

In an interview with a Japanese television channel, he said these talks will be held to protect people's lives and allow humanitarian aid to reach various areas in Syria.

Syrian President hoped that during the talks rebel groups will give up their weapons and receive a government pardon.
