Nawaz receives 0.7mln AED from Flagship Investment: NAB tells court

ISLAMABAD: The NAB prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), informed the accountability court that the former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had received an amount of 0.780 million AED from Flagship Investment.

The court summoned the two sides tomorrow (Wednesday) in a cross-arguments session after the NAB prosecutor and Nawaz's lawyer concluded their final arguments in the above graft reference.

Accountability Court-II Judge Arshad Malik conducted hearing on Flagship Investment corruption reference against Sharif family filed by NAB. The accused Nawaz Sharif also appeared before the court to attend the proceeding.
Earlier, giving his final arguments, NAB Prosecutor Malik Asghar Awan pleaded that only the accused could provide the documents related to ownership of their property but they didn't do this. The accused had failed to share the sources of their assets before the apex court, he added.

He said no documents had proved the connection of Mian Sharif with Gulf Steel Mills, adding Tariq Shafi was not his 'benamidar'.
During hearing, the judge asked the prosecution to mention the connection of Hassan Nawaz's companies' transactions with Nawaz Sharif. What was their issue if Hassan Nawaz had been giving the money to his company after taking loans, he said.

The judge asked the NAB prosecutor to present a chart of companies' transaction so that it could be understood easily.
At this, the NAB prosecutor Akram Qureshi produced the chart before the court.
During the hearing, the judge also expressed displeasure over whispering of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz's (PML-N) leaders and asked them to maintain respect of the court room.

After the prosecution concluded its final arguments, the court adjourned hearing of the case till Wednesday.
