Economic zones under CPEC to help overcome trade deficit: Planning Minister

Minister for Planning and Development Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has said nine economic zones under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will help Pakistan overcome its trade deficit.

Talking to China Exim Bank chief in Beijing, he said Pak-China decades long relations are flourishing under the CPEC project.

The Minister said Pakistan continues to improve manufacturing sector. He said the government's initiatives for ease of doing business and other reforms will create a favorable environment for investors.

He said Multan-Sukkur Karakorum highway and many projects under CPEC are being completed with the cooperation of Exim Bank.

Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar said Pakistan desires to complete its coasts, highways and train projects in transport sector by adopting Build-Operate-Transfer model.

The Exim Bank Chief said Pakistan has become a top-ranked partner of the bank in respect of investment.

He said cooperation with Pakistan will continue in days to come.

The Planning Minister will attend the meeting of 8th Joint Coordination Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor scheduled to be held.
