At present growth rate, Punjab province population to hit 25 crore by 2030: Report

LAHORE - The population of Punjab province in Pakistan is likely to hit 25 crore by the end of year 2030, it has been revealed.
Punjab Population Welfare Minister Col Hashim Dogar(R) has said that population is rapidly increasing with every passing day at the present growth rate population of Punjab will reach 250 million in 2030.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of USAID on Tuesday. He further said that there is a dire need to sensitize the general public with regard to multifarious benefits of family planning and keeping this thing in view, the Punjab government has started working on it.
He averred that to educate people about hazards of unchecked population growth, a public awareness campaign at district level is launched. "Under this campaign, social mobilizers will apprise the married couples about the utility of family planning as well as use of latest contraceptive methods by visiting their homes.
The services of religious scholars will also be utilized to make this campaign a success. In this connection, the role of media is also important, he added," According to him, departmental record is being computerized to improve the organizational performance.
