Matiari-Lahore transmission line: NEPRA to deduct $1.57 billions from consumers

ISLAMABAD (APP): National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved 70 paisa per kWh tariff for 660 kV 4000 MW Matiari-Lahore transmission line.

Pakistan Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB) filed a petition with NEPRA for the tariff determination.

In the petition PPIB sought 91 paisa per kWh tariff for 25 years. However, the NEPRA allowed 70 paisa per unit tariff for the said period.

The project would help evacuate some 4000 MW from mainly coal based power plants being set up from South to North. These projects included Engro Thar Coal Company Ltd. (Phase-I) (330 MW), Engro Thar Coal Company Ltd. (Phase-II) (330 MW), SSRL Thar Coal, (1320 MW), Port Qasim (1320 MW), Hub Power Company Ltd (Phase I and Phase II) each (660 MW) and Siddique Sons Energy (330 MW).

Some 808 KM long transmission line from Matiari to Lahore would be laid with the cost of $ 1.57 billion.
