South African cricket team provided a huge favour to Pakistani team by defeating Australia in a 5 match ODI series.South Africa managed to secure victory over Australia in the consecutive third one-day match, achieving a 2-3 success in the five one-day matches played in Johannesburg. This turned out to be a huge favour for team Pakistan as is resulted in them retaining the number 1 spot in ODI rankings. If Australia had won the series they would have risen above Pakistan in mens ODI cricket team rankings.
In the fifth and final one-day match of the series played in Johannesburg, Australia won the toss and decided to bowl, a decision that proved wrong. South Africa had to endure the loss of their captain Temba Bavuma early in the innings, after which Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen took the score to 37 before De Kock also fell. Dussen and Aiden Markram then collaborated to take the score to 80, but at this stage, South Africa had to endure the loss of the hero from the previous match, Henry Klaasen.
After losing four wickets at 103 runs, David Miller joined hands with Markram, continuing his excellent form by contributing to a partnership of 109 runs for the fifth wicket. Klaasen, despite putting up an excellent performance with 3 sixes and 9 fours, was dismissed, and Tim David took his wicket.
However, from the other end, David Miller did not lose heart and, alongside Marco Jansen, managed to take the score to 258. After scoring 63 runs with the help of 3 sixes and 4 fours, he got out.
Marco Jansen and Andile Phehlukwayo displayed aggressive batting in the final overs, allowing South Africa's team to reach 315 runs at the cost of 9 wickets. Jansen scored 47 off 23 balls, while Phehlukwayo contributed 38 runs off 19 balls. On the Australian side, Adam Zampa took three wickets, and Sean Abbott secured two wickets.
