Former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan lands in hot waters

ISLAMABAD - Former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan may be disqualified from the Provincial Assembly seat.

His act of not taking oath has been challenged in the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench.

Chaudhry Nisar won in the July 25, 2018 National Election from PP 10 but is not taking the oath of office from Rawalpindi from the provincial seat constituency PP10.

The constitutional petition urges the elected member to take immediate oath to represent the constituency and if the elected member refuses to take the oath despite constitutional responsibility, the seat should be vacated and the Election Commission be ordered to hold fresh elections.

The petition has been filed by the constituency voter Raja Naseer Ahmed. The preliminary hearing of the petition will be held on Thursday, September 19.
