Bill Gates wealth did not decrease despite giving $35 billion in Charity

WASHINGTON - The founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, added $16 billion to his net wealth this year, despite giving away $35 billion to charity, Bloomberg has reported.

Gates’ net worth now is $106 billion, leaving him the second richest person in the world, just behind Amazon’s Jeff Bezos.

Bill Gates told Bloomberg Television on Tuesday that he is not taking a defensive approach with keeping most of his billions in cash, adding that, “The strategy has been used is to be over 60% in equities.”

Gates’ charitable work is done mostly through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation works on health, education, climate change and world hunger. Within the United States, the Foundation works on ensuring all children graduate from high school.
