Two key Daesh commanders arrested from Lahore, planning deadly attack

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has announced the arrest of two significant commanders affiliated with the banned Islamic State group (Daesh), as well as seven other terrorists, in distinct and substantial operations.
In the first operation, the CTD officials assert that the apprehended Daesh individuals were in the midst of plotting an attack on critical installations. This operation unfolded in a border village near Lahore and resulted in the detention of Ameenullah and Waqar, identified as the two arrested individuals.
The detained suspects were described by the authorities as pivotal figures within the Islamic State group, having completed preparations for an impending assault on sensitive facilities.
Additionally, it was disclosed that seven more terrorists were taken into custody across various locations, including Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rawalpindi. These individuals were associated with the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The authorities reported that explosive materials, mobile phones, weaponry, and currency were confiscated from the arrested terrorists. Notably, the terrorist networks had allegedly been plotting synchronized attacks on sensitive cities.
Subsequently, cases have been registered against the detained terrorists as officials initiate a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
