Safe City Project, Dolphin Force to be introduced in DG Khan: CM

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the Safe City Project and the Dolphin Force would be introduced in DG Khan.

He said this while presiding over a meeting here at the Commissioner Office, DG Khan, according to a handout issued here.

He said setting up of the regional office of the Counter Terrorism department would help to counter terrorism, adding that immediate necessary measures should be taken to protect life and property of the local people.

The chief minister was briefed about law and order situation in the meeting. He said the police should act actively to control street crimes. The crime rate would decrease due to Dolphin Force and entry and exit points of DG Khan would strictly be monitored, he added.

He said complaints of people should be addressed at police stations, adding that many matters could be managed with better attitude.   

The chief minister said measures would be taken to strengthen Border Military Police and Baloch Levies.

Five new posts of the Border Military Police were being set up because law and order was the top priority, he added.

He said resources would be provided to the Dera Ghazi Khan Police Training College.

Earlier, the chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar inaugurated the DG Khan Urban Bus Service. Buses would run on various routes which would provide comfortable and secure commuting.   The chief minister said standard transport facility would be provided to people across the province.

Comfortable and quality public transport was the right of every citizen, therefore, in new Pakistan transport facility would be provided in remote areas as well.

Separately, the chief minister inaugurated the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) regional office and visited its various sections. Briefing the chief minister, the additional IG CTD said an amount of Rs 3 million had been spent on this office.

The chief minister also witnessed training expertise of the CTD officers.     The chief minister inaugurated the Mobile Water Testing Lab.

He also visited the Government Degree College Model Town. Talking to students, he said their problems would be resolved.

Later, the chief minister also talked to delegations of the DG Khan Bar Council and the Chambers of Commerce. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said he was also a lawyer and knew problems of the community. The setting up of lawyers colony in DG Khan and special economic zone would be reviewed.
