Russia may defend Iran if Israel launched military attack against Islamic Republic

TEHRAN – An American scholar and political commentator said Russia might defend Iran if Israel launched a military attack against the Islamic Republic over its support for Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement.
“Should Saudi Arabia and Israel attack Hezbollah and Iran comes to its defense, Russia may be drawn into the fray on the side of Iran.
Russia cannot afford to have Syria fall to Saudi Arabia and Israel, which is the ultimate game plan. If Israel uses Iranian support of Hezbollah as a pretext for attacking Iran, then Russia becomes the decisive player, with the ability to destroy Israeli missiles launched against Iran, which Russia can destroy in flight or even redirect against the nation that fired them.
This scenario could rapidly escalate to a world war in which Israel itself is turned into a gigantic sheet of glass,” James Henry Fetzer told Tasnim.
