Tayyip Erdogan refuses to lift emergency in Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the state of emergency will not be lifted untill the country becomes completely calm.

Talking to Business leaders in Istanbul today, he said, parts of Turkey's southeast and eastern regions, where the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party has been fighting a decades-old insurgency, are still flooded with weapons, which needs to be dealt with first.

The state of emergency was imposed in the aftermath of a failed coup in July last year.
