Two top target killers of MQM arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: Two operatives of Mutahida Qaumi Movement-London’s (MQM-L) were arrested by Rangers and police in a joint operation conducted in Orangi Town on Wednesday.
According to Rangers’ spokesperson, the arrested suspects were identified as Bilala and Arshad had made a plan to target candidates of rival parties ahead of general elections set to be held on July 25.
He added that teams of target killers were set up in June by MQM-London’s South Africa network to disrupt the process of elections by killing the political leaders.
During initial investigations, the suspects confessed to receiving financial assistance from MQM-London, spokesman added.
Around 150 people were martyred and over 250 others injured in the recent wave of terror attacks which hit political gathering in Peshawar, Bannu and Mastung amid elections.
Among those killed were Awami National Party (ANP) leader Haroon Bilour and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate Siraj Raisani.
