Long-range missiles from Iran landed 100 miles from the Nimitz aircraft carrier strike group belonging to the United States, Fox News has reported.

The missiles allegedly landed 20 miles from a commercial vessel in the Indian Ocean on Saturday, the network reported link citing unnamed US officials.

“At least two Iranian ballistic missiles exploded on impact when they hit the ocean, sending shards of debris in all directions,” claimed the report. link . link

One official claimed that, “we were expecting the missile launch.”

Iran's home-grown ballistic missiles destroyed mock enemy warships with pin-point accuracy hundreds of kilometers away in the northern Indian Ocean as the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) conducted massive military drills on Friday and Saturday.

During the second and last stage of the drills, codenamed the Great Prophet 15, the IRGC's missiles detected and destroyed targets sailing 1,800 kilometers away.

The IRGC units launched a barrage of surface-to-surface ballistic missiles as well as operations by offensive bomber drones on Friday.

Iran has time and again asserted that it stands ready to defend its interests in the region against aggression from the US or its allies.

Tensions remain high in the region during the last days of US President Donald Trump and his anti-Iran administration.
