ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Thursday while rejecting the provincial government’s appeal against Sindh High Court’s (SHC) verdict and ordered to keep AD Khawaja as Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The apex court heard the case related to the Sindh government’s appeal against the verdict of SHC over the appointment of Sindh IGP.

In today’s proceedings, the counsel of the provincial government said that the SHC had declared the Police Act 2011 constitutional and also gave him authority for the appointment and transfer in police department.

The top court while upholding the ruling of SHC in favor of IG Sindh, ordered AD Khawaja to continue to perform duties as IG until final ruling is out.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar declared all orders by the federal and provincial governments regarding the appointment of Sindh IG as null and void.
