KARACHI: Sindh Additional Advocate General Sarwar Khan admitted on Monday of illegal appointments in the education department before a two-member bench of Supreme Court's Karachi registry.
Khan informed the court that as many as 397 people were recruited without post-sanction, and the department now cannot afford to pay them their salaries due to budget constraints.
Justice Sajjad Ali Shah remarked that this has been a 'remarkable achievement' by your government.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed observed that if the people are unqualified for the job, why isn't the government relieving them from their duties after issuing show-cause notice.
The Supreme Court's Karachi registry said that until the employees are on duty their salaries cannot be stopped. The court dismissed education department's appeal against the tribunal's decision. The tribunal ordered to issue salaries of 19 employees.
