Sudan, major rebel group sign deal to integrate rebels into army August 18, 2020

ISLAMABAD- In Sudan, ruling council and a major rebel group signed an agreement to integrate the rebels into the army within thirty-nine months.

Deputy head of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, Yasir Arman described the security agreement as historic.

Under the agreement, the rebel fighters will initially remain in Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile under command of Sudanese army for fourteen months before redeploying to other parts of the country for 13 months.

At the end of the 39-month transition period, all the rebel units will be dismantled.
