Police prime responsibility to protect life, property of people: KP IGP

PESHAWAR: The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salah-ud-din Khan Mehsud has said that protection of life, honour and property was prime responsibility of the police force and directed the jawans to perform its duty as per professional requirement and attached expectations of the general public.
Addressing first police Darbar after assuming charge of police chief here at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Line on Tuesday he pointed out that it was an honour to command Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police whose bravery and commitment to duty during difficult time especially in war against militancy has been proved.
All rank police officers and jawans of different units and wings of Peshawar police participated in the darbar. CCPO Peshawar, SSP Peshawar, SP Coordination and other high ranking police officers were also present on this occasion.
They were also directed to adopt decent behavior with the public inside the police station as well as in the field and warned that strict vigilance would be maintained on police behavior especially with the oppressed and helpless people of the society.
The police chief further observed that discipline was the life blood for any uninformed force and pointed out that no compromise would be made on it in the force. The IGP also stressed the need for imparting best training to the jawans in their respective fields so as to further harness their professional capabilities and thus enable them to meet any eventuality and challenge single handedly.
He informed that strict merit would be ensured in all matters of the force and no one be denied of their due rights. Senior police officers were further directed to give special attention to the welfare of police Shuhadda families and solve their confronting problems on priority basis by personally visiting on their door steps.
The IGP also informed that KP police have offered unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terror and stressed the need for collective efforts for eradicating the menace of terrorism from the society.
He disclosed that one DSP rank officer from each district of the province would be given training at police school of tactics about the security of sensitive establishments and places. The DSP will impart further intensive training to the subordinates in his respective district, he added.
In the darbar the IGP also awarded police officers and jawans who exhibited gallantry acts against terrorists and out laws in line of duty. Those included SHO PS Gulbhar Javed Akhtar, SHO Pahari Pura Abdullah Jalal, SHO PS Inqilab Muslim Khan, Line Officer Sub Inspector Ihsan Ullah, CDI Miftah-ur-Rehman, Driver Constable of PS Tehkal Ikram, IT Computer Operator Amit Kumar, BDU HC Shakir Ullah, Constable CTD Ahmad Khan, Traffic Wardan Anwar Ali, Lady Head Constable Khursheeda, City Patrolling ASI Inayat Khan, ATS Constable Bashir Ahmad and Sub Inspector Inayat-ur-Rahman.
Earlier, on arrival to the police line the IGP laid floral wreath on the Yadgar-e-Shuhada police and offered fateha. (APP)
