LHC announces verdict in disqualification petition against CM Shahbaz Sharif

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has announced the decision in the petition of Imran Khan against disqualification of the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

Lahore High Court has dismissed the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan against Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, declaring it non-maintainable.

In his petition, Khan had sought Sharif’s disqualification over alleged violation of his oath as member of the provincial assembly and doing unlawful business.

The court had reserved its ruling over maintainability of the petition that was filed by PTI’s lawyer Babar Awan, who gave his arguments before LHC judge Justice Shahid Kareem.

The petition alleged that Sharif remained involved in his private business despite holding a public office; thus he “violated his oath” that he took when he assumed the office of Punjab Chief Minister.
