PTI President Pervaiz Elahi faced another arrest by Rawalpindi police on Sunday, just after being acquitted in a corruption case related to Lahore Master Plan 2050 by a Lahore anti-corruption court. Following a one-day transit remand, he appeared before a judicial magistrate in Lahore on Sunday.
Elahi's court appearance was met with stringent security measures, involving 500 officials, and the premises were cordoned off by the security team. The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment in Rawalpindi had initially arrested him on Saturday.
Pervaiz Elahi has experienced multiple re-arrests shortly after obtaining relief from the court in the past. He is among a group of PTI leaders and supporters who have been apprehended in connection with the incidents of arson and vandalism targeting state buildings after PTI Chairman Imran Khan's initial arrest on May 9.
The entire judicial complex remained under tight security, with restrictions in place to prevent access to media and unrelated individuals. Elahi's most recent arrest on Saturday came immediately after his release from Adiala Jail. This marks the 12th time he has been arrested in the last three months.
