Maryam Nawaz Sharif lands into yet another trouble

Islamabad - PML N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif lands into yet another trouble even after the favourable verdict from the Election Commission of Pakistan over her disqualification. Federal government on Tuesday has decided to challenge the ECP verdict in favour of Maryam Nawaz Sharif.Federal government to move court against Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) verdict allowing incarcerated Maryam Nawaz to continue acting as vice-president of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.

Addressing a presser here in the federal capital, Special Advisor to Prime Minister (PM) on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan termed ECP’s verdict is violation of Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict that bars convicted person from holding any office.

Earlier today, ECP turned down petition filed by ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against candidacy of Maryam Nawaz.

The verdict was announced by three-member bench headed by CEC Justice (retd) Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan.

ECP’s verdict rules that Maryam can’t be appointed as acting president of PML-N till she is in custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and that Maryam—Nawaz’s political heir—must not accept any functional position of the party.
