PM directs for coordinated efforts against street crimes in Karachi

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said law and order is high priority agenda of his government as without peace and stability economic potential of the country cannot be harnessed.

Chairing a meeting on law and order in Karachi on Sunday, he said Karachi is financial capital of Pakistan and federal government will continue to offer full support to provincial government for law and order maintenance.

Imran Khan observed that overall situation in Karachi has improved significantly due to the devotion and sacrifices of law enforcement agencies.

He reiterated that there should be better coordination among the agencies at federal and provincial levels to maintain peace and security across the country.

The Prime Minister appreciated the role of Rangers, police and other law enforcement agencies in restoring peace in Karachi.

The meeting was informed that overall 90 percent reduction occurred in the rate of heinous crimes since start of Karachi operation.

The Prime Minister took strong exception to the cases of abduction of kids in the city and sought a coordinated action against the criminals.

He called for urgent recovery of the children, providing relief to their parents.

The meeting was attended by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Corp Commander   Lt. Gen. Hamayun Aziz, Chief Secretary Sindh Azam Sulaiman Khan, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Sualeh Farooqi, DG Rangers Maj. Gen. Muhammad Saeed, IG Sindh Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam, Secretary Home Abdul Qadir Qazi and senior officers.

The Prime Minister also chaired a meeting on development projects funded by the Federal Government in Karachi.

The meeting was briefed about the ongoing development projects particularly Green Line Project and the K-IV water supply project.

While discussing Green Line Project, the Prime Minister directed that a representative of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation should be included in the Board of Directors.

It was informed that Karachi is facing a water shortage of 573 million gallons per day as against a demand of 918 million gallons.

Prime Minister expressed concern over the water issues of Karachi and emphasized on enhanced coordination between federal and provincial governments for co-funded projects.

The meeting was attended by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Sindh Azam Sulaiman Khan, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Sualeh Farooqi, Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar, senior officers of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and Sindh government.

President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting in Karachi today (Sunday).

During the meeting, important national matters and Federal Government funded developmental projects for Karachi were discussed.

MQM delegation called on PM in Karachi

A delegation of Muttahida Qoumi Movement Pakistan led by convener and Minister for Information Technology Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Karachi on Sunday.

During the meeting, matters of local bodies' affairs, development schemes for Karachi and Hyderabad, issues of Marten Quarter residents and others were discussed in the meeting.

The delegation also expressed its reservation on census process in Karachi.

Later, talking to newsmen Minister for IT and Convener of MQM-Pakistan Khalid Maqbool Siddqui said that the Prime Minister has assured that all the issues will soon be resolved.

On his arrival in Karachi, the Prime Minister Imran Khan was received by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

The Prime Minister soon after arrival visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay respect to father of the nation.

He also visited Mazar of Madr-e-Millat Mohtarama Fatima Jinnah and Shaheed-e-Millat Liaqat Ali Khan.

Prime Minister also planted a sapling at State Guest House as part of National Tree Plantation Campaign.
