In Islamabad, an accountability court has reserved its verdict in the NAB reference related to assets beyond means involving former finance minister Ishaq Dar. The proceedings saw the conclusion of arguments from Ishaq Dar's counsel, Qazi Misbahul Hassan, and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Prosecutor, Afzal Qureshi.
The announcement of the reserved decision is scheduled for October 21, and Accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir will preside over the verdict.
The court had previously put the assets beyond means reference against Ishaq Dar on hold. The decision to resume the case was influenced by the Supreme Court's ruling against amendments to the NAB law.
During the hearing, NAB counsel Afzal Qureshi stated that there is a lack of evidence against Ishaq Dar in this case, and no court has issued directions for further investigation into the matter.
In 2017, the accountability bureau had filed a reference against Ishaq Dar, along with individuals Saeed Ahmed, Naeem Mahmood, and Mansoor Raza Rizvi.
