Beautification plan of Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera unveiled

PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak directed to finalize the beautification plan in Peshawar, Mardan and Nowshera.

He directed to hand over Pir Zakori Flyover on the Ring Road/GT Road Intersection Peshawar to the overall Bus Rapid Transit project. He was presiding over a meeting to review the progress on the developmental schemes as a part of the beautification plan of District Peshawar, Mardan and Nowshera at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar.

Provincial Minister for Education Muhammad Atif, Secretary Local Government Jamaluddin Shah, Principal Secretary to CM Shahab Ali Shah and others attended the meeting.

The meeting informed about different developmental packages in Peshawar, Mardan and Nowshera that included, Service Roads at Ring Road, Pir Zakori Flyover Peshawar, Pabbi and Nowsehra, the drain and sanitation system improvement at Sheikh Maltoon, construction of Jawad Chowk, Charsadda and Katlang Chowk in Mardan.

The meeting further informed about the completion of 18 KM long service road, streetlights and uplifting of shops on the southern part of the Ring road Peshawar while relocation of 19 poles of WAPDA, flyover at Charsadda road and the overall drain design at the northern side.

The Chief Minister directed to complete the master plan having different projects and road communication, beautification, Hayatabad and University roads etc.

He directed to open the roads for smooth vehicular traffic in the entire city of Peshawar.

The face lifting of Peshawar should be visible and the overall beautification plan should be completed.

He directed to remove all the irritants hindering the whole process of development as the government was spending major share of its resources and hoped that all the projects should stand completed towards the end of December.

However, the participants of the meeting were informed that the completion of service roads of the Peshawar ring road would take another month and would stand completed in January.

Pervez Khattak directed the NLC and PDA to sit together and undertake the handing and taking over of different projects adding that the hindrances in shape of incomplete drain and sanitation systems should be removed at the earliest.

Chief Minister was also briefed about the uplifting of Sheikh Maltoon Township in Mardan, the construction of different roads and replacing the existing sewerage system and the construction of another part in Mardan.

He directed for accelerated work adding that the resources should not drain. The entire developmental activities should shape up within the time tag of one year and should be completed before January 12.

He was also informed about the two flyovers and one park being established in Mardan. He directed to move a summary after the approval from the Rate Advisory Committee and PDWP.

He also directed for the safety nets in the Sheikh Maltoon Township.

He also directed to compensate the victims of the drain system. Pervez Khattak directed to replicate the Hayatabad Model of safe city in Sheikh Maltoon to have it a safe and secure township.

He directed to ensure that the employees were on their respective duties. These employees, he added were public servants and should not work as servants of the officers.

He would not take any pressure and directed to remove all the irritants hindering the smooth construction works of different projects.

He directed to arrange drinking water in eight parks, install benches and streets signs on the pattern of DHA in Sheikh Maltoon Township.

Later addressing another presentation regarding new projects in Mardan, the Chief Minister directed to complete Jawad Chowk flyover within the time period of six months.

The slip roads on both sides and the redesigning of chowks should be completed. The meeting was briefed about the pace of progress and he directed to relocate the utilities.

The Jawad chowk flyover would cost Rs. 385 million, Charsadda chowk flyover Rs. 405 million.

The Chief Minister directed for the greenery and beautification of Mardan with focus on completion of design for all the projects.  The meeting was assured of land acquisition for the Katlang chowk.
